The Ropemaker was commissioned by Bideford Town Council and is sited at the entranctothe famous Rope Walk in Bideford, and is a continuation of our work as part of their Heritage Trail .
Rope Walk is a long straight lane where rope was made, here long lengths of rope were twisted together , these supplied the demand from ships, boats and industry in the area.
The Ropemaker sculpture is a Victorian Ropemaker with his rope making equipment and made from mild steel. All of this was galvanised and is part covered with a waistcoat of sheet copper and brass rivets.

The rope is sisal rope and treated with creosote type preservative with a bespoke oak wooden platform beneath.
