The Fork
Nate's Forge
The project began with the creation of a 6ft spoon, chosen for its simplicity after a particularly challenging endeavor. The spoon turned out great, and it was during a dinner conversation that the idea of making a large fork emerged. Inspired by a favorite fork from the drawer, the decision was made to scale it up to 7.3 meters, despite the constraints of a limited budget and available steel.
The work commenced the next day. Thirteen days and approximately 400 hours later, a massive fork emerged from the 7.5-meter workshop. The fork was primarily welded and fabricated, with the tines forged from solid bar to ensure they wouldn't bend. Although the result was impressive, the grey appearance of the fork prompted the decision to galvanize it for durability and aesthetics.
The transformation of the steel was stunning, once cooled it became extraordinary when the shiny, galvanized fork was revealed. Drone footage captured the impressive scale as it was transported down the Dalvine Pass, adding to the project's grandeur.
